Police foils gangsters' plan to shoot Reshammiya

It's established now: Not everybody is a fan of singer-performer and now an actor Himesh Reshammiya.

The Special Task Force (STF) on Wednesday arrested four sharp-shooters, who allegedly work for the Ejaz Lakdawala gang, on suspicion that they were on the take to bump off the pop artist.

The STF nabbed Anees Radiowala, Namdeo alias Sagar, Mohammed Raheem Khan and Ishrat Warsi on the outskirts of Lucknow, from where they were allegedly going to collect sophisticated weapons to pull the trigger on Reshammiya and film-maker Raj Kumar Santoshi.

"Anees told investigators that after Reshammiya didn't respond to Ejaz's message to contact him, the latter planted a youth in the audition for an international singing competition, aired on an entertainment channel, where Reshammiya was a judge," Additional DG STF Shailja Kant Misra said.

The plan, says Misra, was an audacious one: Shoot Reshammiya at the studio during the recording. But, Ejaz's man wasn't shortlisted for the show and the scheme fell through, he added.
