Rani Mukherjee and Abhishek Bachchan friends again, Aishwarya spying

After Abhishek and Aishwarya’s marriage, rumors were ripe that Rani Mukherjee and Abhishek would not be friends any more as wife Aishwarya is not keen on this friendship. But apparently while shooting for Laga Chunari Mein Daag, Rani and Abhishek renewed their friendship and were back to set the set on fire.
Though initially Rani was miffed about not having called for the wedding of the century, Abhishek’s friendly behavior brought everything back to normal again. But it is heard that wife Aishwarya dropped in to spend some time with dearest hubby during the movie’s outdoor shoot. To ponder deeper into the topic- was it to spend time with Abhi or was to spy on him?

BackgammonMasters

Backgammon online is a board game for two players in which pieces are moved according to the roll of dice. The winner is the first to remove all of his own pieces from the board. Many variants have developed throughout the world, but most share common elements. It is a member of the tables family, one of the oldest classes of board games in the world.

Backgammonmasters, claim to be the first-ever and only company to introduce an online version of the popular Spanish dice game, Perudo, (in addition to their poker and backgammon) BackgammonMasters has now established itself as an industry leader in most, if not all, of the world’s major online game playing regions. This increased activity in Latin markets has resulted in the need for Backgammon Masters to Open Offices in Central America.

By studying and listening to the demands of Latin audiences, BackgammonMasters is able to provide the most desirable and popular community games of particular world regions as part of their global strategy to maintain the world’s largest community game network. I really like the BackgammonMasters animated series starring their tiger mascot, Jean-Claude and the mascot that has drawn viewers from all over the world, including those from Latin Markets.

What is unique about BackgammonMasters’ software and all-in-one game concept is that with only one download from one site, players enter one game lobby and select from any number of games whether it be backgammon, perudo, poker and soon to come, blackjack. All of BackgammonMasters games are developed in multi player variations as part of their community concept, and the company has stated that more popular games for the Latin Markets are already in the works.

So, I guess its time for me to play …

John Abraham denies split rumors

John has finally reacted to the John-Bips split rumors and said he is “hurt and disturbed” by the wild guesses. The actor called this sheer media animosity towards them and that he is very much in love with Bipasha.
John’s mother has also been very much upset with the wild guesses. Bipasha has responded by making plans to visit John in Pondichery where he is shooting for Kukunoor’s Aashayein on the 27th of this month. Surely this couple is not for the split. Paparazzi should just stop making groundless news for sensationalism.

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom Review

Jhoom Barabar Jhoom (romance)
Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Preity Zinta, Bobby Deol, Lara Dutta
Direction: Shaad Ali Sahgal

Bunty isn’t bubbly at all. As for bubbly, she’s lost her zing too. With both Abhishek and Preity, the quintessential Ms Bubbly, creating zero masti on screen, it’s left to the next best bakras to juggle up the requisite bedlam that usually forms the bedrock of Shaad Ali’s entertainers. Can Punjabi puttar Bobby Deol and Southall’s sharp-tongued slut, Lara Dutta save the day for our high-profile film production house? Nah! Even Amitabh Bachchan’s attempts to recreate the kaala jadu of ‘Kajra re’ with his Jack Sparrow-meets-desi gypsy jigs fails to give Yash Raj films its next big hit. There simply is no spin in the tale. End result? The bechara viewer keeps waiting — and waiting — to jhoom. To no avail.

So what’s the problem with the film? The confusion primarily springs from the director’s attempts to be oversmart and give a new take to Bollywood romance. One where the story unfolds more through the dialogues than through episodes. But unfortunately, the conversation between the Pakistani girl (Preity) and the chokra from Bhatinda (Abhishek) as they wait for their respective ‘fiancees’ on a crowded London station is mostly inaudible, inarticulate and a load of gobbledygook.

They both talk a lot, yet the talkathon — and their endless tales — fail to make you laugh, even though there is an attempt to create a series of bizarre situations. Zinta tells the story of her romance with the super-rich Deol who saved her from a crumbling Superman and Abhishek weaves a fable about a French kiss with Lara Dutta. But really, the stories aren’t funny at all.

Secondly, there is the hangover of Bunty aur Babli all through the film. Everybody seems to be a con artist here and the truth lies somewhere in between the seen and the heard. But unlike the earlier film which became a metaphor for small-town dreams and success stories, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom shows a great disconnect, both with the cosmopolitan viewer and the mofussil dreamer.

Even the romance seems unreal, minus an emotional core and leaves you cold. While Preity is too plastic as the Paki-Brit girl, Abhishek is absolutely awkward as the downmarket Brit from Bhatinda. Bobby and Lara have little to do while Mr Bachchan gets repetitive as the street singer who sings the same song and dances the same steps, again and again. The only thing that works is the music, another foot-thumping score from Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy.
Despair. This one might just end up as the great summer let-down.

Shilpa Shetty launches her perfume S2 in London

A swanky central London hotel was the venue handpicked for the high profile launch of Shilpa Shetty's new perfume, titled S2.

The media attention which cramped the chambers of a dimly lit room, decorated with oyster seats, a pink tinge reflecting the glow from the oversized image of Shilpa with her new signature motif covered the rear of the chamber and the front. Press sauntered around the room sipping mocktails and cocktails browsing through their press packs which included a sample bottle of the new fragrance. As interactive media set up, Raj Kundra, the man who has helped bring the perfume to retailers, beamed with joy as he spoke about why this was a momentous occasion for the perfume and entertainment industry.

As Shilpa entered the room was eclipsed by flashbulbs as she took to the podium to introduce her new fragrance. "Of all the five senses, smell is one of the most intriguing," she said. Unlike sight, taste and sound it’s the one that arrives like a surprise and encompasses you sending signals throughout your body conjuring feelings and a reaction that’s unforgettable."

"A scent should live up to its name, appear from nowhere and leave you breathless. You could be in a busy street, be on your way to work in a train or in the office and someone passes you and their scent lingers with you for a moment and in a surreal way, two strangers connect. One for leaving the trail of their scent, the other because by the time they turn to see what’s hit their senses it may be gone."

"That's the magic, mystique and intriguing factor of a scent. And the scent of a woman should be one that's in tune with her nature." "This is my reason for launching S2 – a new fragrance that has a citrus and jasmine tinge to give a fresh yet earthy feel with an ethnic twist. This fusion represents very much where I am today: on a global stage with my feet firmly on Indian soil."

The fragrance has been created by one of the oldest French perfumers, Robertet, and each ingredient hand-picked by Shilpa with each keynote having an individual importance to her. It is a kaleidoscope of rich florals with a fruity zest including the scent of Mandarin, Bergamot, Peach, Jasmine and Sandalwood among others. The fragrance releases across the UK at most high-street retailers from July.

Taj mahal

A tourist splashes water on herself to beat the heat at Mehtab Bagh near Taj Mahal in Agra.

It's a deal, says Hrithik, finally

Hrithik Roshan has finally signed the much touted Rs 35-crore film deal.
Sometime ago, Delhi Times had reported how Hrithik Roshan's Rs 35 crore deal with Adlabs had run into rough weather. In fact, Manmohan Shetty of Adlabs had, at that time, categorically told us how "it is all speculation , and indulging in that is not my style.
When there will be some development, I will let you know." Well, there have been many developments of late. Hrithik has finally signed the Rs 35 crorethree-film deal with Adlabs. And the confirmation of this comes straight from the horse's mouth - Manmohan Shetty himself. "Yes, Hrithik has signed the deal. It is for doing three films with us through three years. That means he will put aside a bulk of his prime dates for doing those films with us."
And what kind of films will they be? Post Krrish, he's got an action and superhero tag to him. "At this moment, all I can reveal is that we are looking at larger-than-life films with obviously, Hrithik in the lead." Will Adlabs be including the sequel to Krrish as a part of these three films? "No," says Manmohan.
"That is Rakesh Roshan's baby and will remain so. We are looking at other scripts. Hrithik has already seen a few of them, and in a couple of months, we should be able to finalise the first film," he adds.
Rakesh Roshan, on his part confirms that Hrithik has signed the deal. "Yes. He has signed it. He's looking at a few scripts now," he told us. Ask him for further details and he says, "At this moment , only the scripts are being read and readied. As for the rest, I guess Manmohan and Hrithik will have to discuss things." But our source gave us a few details. "Hrithik has already heard his first script at his residence a few days back. In fact, he has also accepted the first installment from Adlabs recently. There are three scripts being developed simultaneously which Hrithik will go through and finalise. He is extremely choosy about his characters and maybe that's the reason he made some changes to the first script as well. The script will be reworked according to the changes," says our source.
Apparently , Hrithik gets to decide his co-stars , directors and the cast for all the three films. And, if sources are to be believed, John Mathew Mathan will be directing the first film, "Right now he is one of the names being considered strongly by Adlabs and Hrithik," says the source.

Dharm

Anyone who makes therapeutic cinema in choleric times deserves a kudos. Dharm is a film that needs to be made mandatory viewing in all schools across India if we really want to build a secular nation, without giving up on our traditional heritage. More importantly, it needs to be screened — free public viewings — for each and every fanatic organisation that exists within our country and in every communally sensitive town, kasbah, colony. Finally, it should be made compulsory viewing for some of our political leaders — and we won’t take names — who have made a killing out of orchestrated communal frenzy and caste violence.

Dharm is not an ordinary film. Its power lies in the fact that it gives us a progressive interpretation of religion, straight from the head pontiff who has pursued a life of misconstrued religiosity. A respected Brahmin priest, Pandit Chaturvedi (Pankaj Kapoor) has dominated the spiritual landscape of Benares with his strict adherence to the traditional tenets of practised Hinduism. Like all conventional priests, he believes in caste and communal differences and his world almost falls apart when he realises he has adopted a Muslim child. The foundling who became Karthik for him was actually Mustafa, a child lost in the communal carnage that had ripped the city apart. When the child’s mother returns, the Pandit not only hurriedly gives him up, but also undergoes days of penance to purge his home, mind, body and soul, supposedly defiled by the presence of a non-believer.

Is this the true essence of Dharm? No, declares the Pandit, when the city begins to rage once again in the communal cauldron and his followers brandish their sharpened swords in half-burnt colonies. Set against the scenic backdrop of the Benares ghats, the film ends up equating Dharm with its true tenets: the world is one big family; any discrimination on the basis of colour, caste and community is anti-dharm. Pankaj Kapoor towers like a colossus amidst the dying social fabric and what could have been a didactic sermon on spirituality, turns up as uplifting soul curry.

Aish loving as Mrs Bachchan

Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai may have just married into Indian cinema's most powerful acting dynasty, but she seems unfazed by her illustrious in-laws, saying they are just "family to me."

Rai, one of only a handful of Bollywood stars with crossover appeal thanks to films such as "Bride And Prejudice," married fellow star Abhishek Bachchan in April, creating what Indian media have dubbed the "ultimate power couple."

Bachchan is the son of Amitabh Bachchan, the godfather of Indian cinema who was voted biggest star of the millennium in a 1999 BBC poll, beating Sir Laurence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe.

The newlyweds are widely known as "Abhiash," an amalgam of their names which echoes the "Brangelina" nickname of their closest Hollywood equivalents, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Rai was present at Leeds Metropolitan University, north England where her father-in-law, actress Shabana Azmi and producer/director Yash Chopra received honorary degrees during the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFAs).

Asked how it feels being part of such a famous family, she laughed, cast a glimpse towards her nearby husband and said: "It's all great -- well, they're family to me and that's what makes it most special."

The emerald-eye former Miss World also spoke of her excitement at the "Unforgettable" world tour, kicking off in April 2008, when she will appear on the stage with Bachchan father and son for the first time.
