Keira Christina Knightley

The famous English actress who started her career as a child actress then went on to become a well known international face is Keira Christina Knightley. This twenty something actress was born on 26th March, 1985 in Teddington, Middlesex England. She is the daughter of Sharman Macdonald who is a Scottish award-winning playwright and Will Knightley who is an English theatre and television actor. When Keira was a child, she appeared in many amateur productions like ‘After Juliet’ and ‘United States’. In the mid to late 90s, Keira has appeared in several films made for television. Her breakthrough role came in 2002 with the film ‘Bend it like Beckham’ which was directed by Gurinder Chadda. This film made her a popular and a well-known international face. Keira started getting role for big budget films, which include ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’ along with Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp. The film was the highest grosser of the year 2003. She also appeared in the English romantic comedy ‘Love Actually’ which was also a hit. The readers of the ‘Hello’ magazine voted her as the film industry’s most promising teen star. Keira has played the iconic character Elizabeth Bennet of Jane Auten’s famous classic ‘Pride and Prejudice’ in 2005. keira has also appeared in the two sequels of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ series : ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End’. Keira has won the IFTA award and also the Golden Globe Award.
