Lilette Dubey honored at Madrid

Lilette Dubey, the talented actress from India, won the best actress award for her awesome performance in "Bow Barracks Forever" at the Madrid International Film Festival. It is said that Lilette is very happy at this turn of events. The director of the film Anjan Dutta called her after she was honored when she was about to go on stage with Mahesh Dattani’s play, who is also her friend. In the movie "Bow Barracks Forever”, she had played the role of a hyper-strung Anglo-Indian woman. This movie is based in Kolkata, where this community of Anglo-Indian is being neglected.

Her performance in the movie was compared with Jennifer Kapoor's performance in "36 Chowringhee Lane" which was directed by Aparna Sen. Lilette was nominated along with Joan Allen who is also the actress’s favorite actress. Since she loves Spanish cinema, she is very much glad as the award has come from Spain. She was found saying that since she has reached a stage and age where looks are not important anymore, now she just needs to search for the right character to essay the role. She was last seen in "My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves" where she played the role of a film maker. The other movies of her in hand include Ravi Chopra's 'Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai' where she will be playing Tabu’s mother. She has even done a Diaspora film named 'Bollywood Beats' directed by a 27 year old man, Mehul Shah. She is also doing a film named ‘Phoonk’ which is directed by Ram Gopal Verma.
