Tanuja Chandra with 'hope and a little sugar'

Well known for her woman-oriented films, where women remain as the protagonists, Tanuja Chandra is hitting the screen again with her new film “Hope and a Little Sugar”. This Indian film director and writer wrote the screenplay for Yash Chopra’s “Dil To Pagal Hai”, which was a tremendous commercial success. She was well recognized as a director and writer for her films like “Sur” and “Film Star”. Now her recently released film, which is starring Mahima Chaudhry, is set against the backdrop of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It is a love story and the leading characters are a part of the US-based South Asian community whose family of four have fallen victim to the terrorist attack.

The film delivers the message that anything and everything can be taken care with hope and a little sugar i.e the sugar of love and affection. Tanuja’s last film was “Zindaggi Rocks” , where she tried to put the ingredients of subtle thoughts in it , but was not accepted well by the audiences. Mourning for the death and despair and suffering in pain is well played by the characters. The film is typical of Tanuja’s style but is nicely formatted in order to convey the prime message.
